Nivea Express Hydration Primer Review *NON SILICONE BASED YAAAAY*

I tweeted that I was looking for a primer that wasn't silicone based as I'm allergic to silicone and makes me break out in a rash. I was recommended this primer by @LaurasHaven. I'd seen it on tv before so decided to give it a shot! It was also on offer in my local chemist for €4 and sure ya couldn't go wrong for €4!

Nivea Express Hydration Primer €6.09 here
                                            £4.99 here

The primers come in two types - Normal & Combination and Dry & Sensitive. Obviously I went with the second option!

As I mentioned above I'm allergic to silicone based primers. The only other primer I've found that isn't silicone based is the Smashbox Hydrating primer which worked well for me but at €40 a tube it isn't cheap.
So, I was delighted when I heard about this primer.
This primer isn't like the usual primers you get which are almost like a gel with a silicone feel to them. This one is more like a moisturiser.
It feels very cooling and hydrating on the skin. I apply a quick layer of moisturiser in the morning (as I've always done) then wait about 5 minutes for it to soak in. I then apply a small bit of this primer and allow it too to soak in before apply my makeup.

I didn't have high hopes for this to be honest but I have noticed a difference in the lasting time of my makeup!
Usually it would be patchy within a few hours but it seems to last a lot longer with this primer and I haven't noticed much patchiness at all!

If you can't use silicone based primers then I would highly recommend giving this a shot if you can't afford the Smashbox one. It's been working great for me and I haven't noticed any allergic reaction to it yet but I'll make sure to write a post if I notice anything in a few weeks!

Has anyone else found this primer good? If you know of another primer that isn't silicone based please let me know!

  1. oooo I definitely want to try this one out! Even though I can wear silicone primers, I like the idea of an affordable one, especially since I usually love Nivea products!
